Lately you can't throw a cigarette butt without hitting an ex-hardcore kid playing an acoustic guitar, but the new double-EP from Boston's Adam Caires shouldn't be placed aside other guys who put down the electric for mellower pastures unless they want to get blown out of the water. Ambitious, melodic, and heart-breaking, Adam's dual concept suite accomplishes more with one voice and one guitar than most orchestras can muster. Comparisons have been drawn to NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL, ROCKY VOTOLATO, and THE GOOD LIFE, but Adam's darkly beautiful creations have a distinctive tone and point-of-view all their own. Throw these two CDs in the disc changer, then sit back and watch the world burn with Apocalypsongs.
